Slokam :  31 - "Attraction of everything"


"Cautuh-shashtya tantraih sakalam atisamdhaya bhuvanam

Sthitas tat-tat-siddhi-prasava-para-tantraih pasupatih;

Punas tvan-nirbandhad akhila-purusarth'aika ghatana

Svatantram te tantram khsiti-talam avatitaradidam."

Translation :


Cautuh-shashtya tantraih = with the sixty four spiritual disciplines (which do not follow the Vedic path and aim at Artha and Kama only)

sakalam = all

atisamdhaya = having deceived

bhuvanam = the world

Sthitas = desisted

tat-tat = that, that (to each individually) 

siddhi-prasava = capable of generating a result

para-tantraih =  restricted to 

pasupatih = Pasupati (Siva)

Punas = but 

tvan-nirbandhad = importuned by you 

akhila-purusarth = all the principal objects of life (Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha

aika ghatana- =  brings together as one

Svatantram = independently 


te tantram = your spiritual discipline (the SriVidya expounded in the Subhagamapancakam, following the Vedic path and aiming at Moksha)


khsiti = the surface of the earth 


avatitaradidam =  caused to descend


talam = this.

Pasupati desisted, having deceived all the world, with the sixty four spiritual disciplines, which are capable of generating a result, restricted to each individually. But, importuned by you, he caused this, your spiritual discipline which independently brings together as one, all the principal objects of human life, to descend to the surface of the earth.

The Lord of all souls, Pasupathi*, Did create the sixty four thanthras,Each leading to only one desired power,And started he his relaxation..But you goaded him mother,

To create in this mortal world.


Your thanthra called Sri vidya.


Which grants the devotee,

All powers that give powers,

Over all the states in life.
